About the Internship
Join Emmy-nominated and Gold Telly Award-winning human rights advocate Phillip Alexander Downie for a dynamic summer of storytelling, advocacy, and impact. Interns will work directly with Phillip Alexander and the Live In Your Truth team to help document history, support community mobilization, and gain hands-on leadership and media experience.
Interns Will:
Create a short documentary exploring the human impact of the Mahmoud v. McKnight inclusive education case currently before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Collaborate with youth leaders, educators, and advocates to gather interviews, footage, and archival material.
Assist in planning and producing the 3rd Annual Back to School Block Party — an affirming celebration of youth, education, and equity.
Attend professional development workshops and receive mentorship from creatives and change-makers in advocacy, media, and nonprofit leadership.
What We’re Looking For
Students ages 16–24 with a passion for storytelling, human rights, and advocacy
A background or interest in media production, organizing, journalism, or social justice
Strong communication and collaboration skills
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Residents of Montgomery County preferred, but not required
Compensation
Each intern will receive a $2,500 - $3,000 stipend upon completion of the program.
