Live In Your Truth Presents Trans Day of Visibility 2026:
Trans Joy, Then, Now, and Forever
Bethesda, MD — On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Live In Your Truth will host Trans Day of Visibility at the Montgomery County Pride Center, located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane in Bethesda. This year’s theme, “Trans Joy, Then, Now, and Forever,” honors the enduring legacy of transgender advocates while celebrating the brilliance, resilience, and leadership of today’s trans and gender expansive community. This event is made possible through the collaboration and support of valued community partners, including Trans Maryland, MD Trans Unity, MoCo Pride Center Inc., and Trans-Latinx DMV, whose collective efforts help bring this celebration to life.
“As a Black nonbinary person of trans experience leading this work, I understand that visibility is both powerful and complex,” said West Woods (they/them), Director of Programs & Marketing for Live In Your Truth. For Black transgender women in particular, the stakes remain painfully high. According to national data, Black trans women represent a disproportionate percentage of anti trans homicides each year. Studies have also shown that nearly half of Black transgender adults report experiencing homelessness at some point in their lives, and unemployment rates among Black trans people remain significantly higher than the national average.
Yet even in the face of these disparities, trans communities continue to create culture, lead movements, build families, and define what joy looks like on our own terms.
Trans Day of Visibility is not solely about acknowledging harm. It is about honoring survival. It is about celebrating legacy. It is about making space for intergenerational storytelling, for Black and Brown trans brilliance, and for a future rooted in affirmation rather than erasure.
The evening will begin with a Vendor Fair at 5:00 PM featuring trans and gender expansive entrepreneurs and community organizations. As the Founder of the Trans Celebration and Planning Committee (TCAP), this event is a reflection of intentional, community-led planning, bringing together voices, talent, and resources to create a meaningful and impactful experience.
From 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, the celebration will include dynamic speakers, live performances, and a featured fashion presentation highlighting a trans designer and trans and gender expansive models. Interpreting services will be provided to ensure accessibility for all attendees.
“This year’s theme centers joy intentionally,” said West Woods, Director of Programs & Marketing for Live In Your Truth. “Trans joy is resistance. It is legacy. It is survival. And it is our birthright. When we gather on March 31, we are not only affirming who we are today, we are honoring those who paved the way and building something sustainable for those coming next.” The event is free and open to the public. Community members, allies, families, and partners are encouraged to attend and stand in solidarity with transgender and gender expansive residents across Montgomery County.
